Celebrate Chapel Hill's global culture with a new fun and funky street party!
Near & Far is a new fun, family event in downtown Chapel Hill featuring global food, music, dance traditions and other displays of our town's diversity.
Community and campus cultural groups will share their heritage through crafts, activities and interactive experiences. Music, dance and spontaneous art performances will fill the stage and street. Taste flavors of the world from food trucks and in an international tasting tent featuring downtown's diverse restaurants. Bring the whole family!
SPRING CRAFT BAZAAR

The Bazaar Craft and Art Market is returning to the Plaza at 140 West Franklin Street! On Saturday, May 12, 2018 a variety of artisans will set up shop on the plaza.
Shop handmade local crafts and creations from 20+ talented local makers and awesome eats and drinks, all while enjoying outdoor music! The Bazaar is family-friendly and free.
Downtown starts here; don’t miss your opportunity to discover your new favorite crafter! The Plaza at 140 West Franklin creates an inviting experience for all, highlighted by 30,000 square feet of outdoor space, and a unique art sculpture titled Exhale.

When football season comes around, it’s time to bring the Carolina game day spirit to the heart of downtown Chapel Hill!
Tar Heel Downtown is a pep rally atmosphere and fan experience on Franklin Street, featuring a live outdoor concert, interactive games for kids and families, face painting, and more. The UNC Marching Tar Heels, cheerleaders, and of course...Rameses will be there too!
Hosted by the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, UNC Athletics and the Town of Chapel Hill, Tar Heel Downtown is a very special event to our community. Mayor Mark Kleinschmidt says “Tar Heel Downtown has evolved into a unique opportunity to champion downtown, all the while celebrating Carolina Football. Tar Heel spirit comes marching right down Franklin Street, and we celebrate together”.
As always, Chapel Hill is a bike and pedestrian friendly community and encourages everyone to cycle or walk whenever attending our great events.

Historic West Franklin Street in Downtown Chapel Hill provides a beautiful backdrop to our celebration of arts and culture.
Chapel Hill – Carrboro Holiday Parade

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade, presented by The Jaycees, starts at the Morehead Planetarium and runs the entire length of Franklin Street to Carrboro Town Hall. Stake out your curbside spot and enjoy a great community tradition! Free.
