Near & Far is a new fun, family event in downtown Chapel Hill featuring global food, music, dance traditions and other displays of our town's diversity.

Community and campus cultural groups will share their heritage through crafts, activities and interactive experiences. Music, dance and spontaneous art performances will fill the stage and street. Taste flavors of the world from food trucks and in an international tasting tent featuring downtown's diverse restaurants. Bring the whole family!

Saturday mornings are better with a Bootcamp and Brunch! Chapel Hill Training and Chapel Hill Parks and Recreation bring back the Bootcamp and Brunch fitness series, June 1 thru Aug. 3 in Downtown Chapel Hill

~A large, outdoor bootcamp style workout
~High energy music (we heard there might be a DJ!)
~All-levels workout
~A trip to a partnering downtown restaurant for brunch specials
~An fun and active Saturday morning!

When football season comes around, it’s time to bring the Carolina game day spirit to the heart of downtown Chapel Hill! 

Tar Heel Downtown is a pep rally atmosphere and fan experience on Franklin Street, featuring a live outdoor concert, interactive games for kids and families, face painting, and more. The UNC Marching Tar Heels, cheerleaders, and of course...Rameses will be there too!

Hosted by the Chapel Hill Downtown Partnership, UNC Athletics and the Town of Chapel Hill, Tar Heel Downtown is a very special event to our community.

Bubba Cunningham, UNC Chapel Hill Athletic Director, says, “Carolina Football Game Days are an opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate all that makes this Town and this University so special. Tar Heel Downtown will offer our students, alumni and fans a wonderful game day experience stretching all the way from Franklin Street to Kenan Stadium."

As always, Chapel Hill is a bike and pedestrian friendly community and encourages everyone to cycle or walk whenever attending our great events. 

Festifall Arts Festival
a Day of Artful Discovery

Chapel Hill’s annual celebration of the arts transforms Historic West Franklin Street into an extraordinary opportunity for the community, art enthusiasts and artists to interact. A variety of performing arts and a vibrant market of handmade artworks present a day of discovery for the festival’s attendees as they engage with the local art community. Historic West Franklin Street in Downtown Chapel Hill provides a beautiful backdrop to our celebration of arts and culture.

Chapel Hill – Carrboro Holiday Parade

Through Downtown Chapel Hill and Carrboro
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  

 The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade, presented by The Jaycees, starts at the Morehead Planetarium and runs the entire length of Franklin Street to Carrboro Town Hall. Stake out your curbside spot and enjoy a great community tradition!  Free.
